October 1999 UPDATE

A report from Michael Keating, Executive Director

This is it folks. Point your browsers to:

www.sustreport.org

We have our first working site, and Canada’s first report on sustainability issues and trends. It’s just a first step in a long journey to develop the site.

For our first steps, we have put a fair amount of material in the Background section to define who we are and what we are about.

We have also posted some material on Policy Options, and have started to put material into the Business and the Communities sections.

It’s best to start with the ‘Trial Site: Click for Instructions’ button. It lists the active parts of the site. It also has a list of issues that we would like to cover over the long term.

You can also take a Site Tour.

I’d very much like to get your comments, including:

The look and feel of the site. Is it easy to use?

The key messages you see on the home page. Are they the right ones? What others should we have? Is there anything that does not need to be at that level?

Do we need any other information on the home page for new visitors?

The key subject headings as you see them on the site and in the long-term design document, below.

Are these the right priorities, and the right words?

What should be added, or pushed down the agenda?

We look forward to your comments,

Michael Keating, Mary MacDonald and John Chenery

Researchers: Kim Peters and Michelle Fernando.
